Q2, What's your myspace page called? What do you think myspace has to offer bands & artists? How many friends have you got (it is a competition you know!) and how many are actual friends? MYSPACE/MORNINGLIGHTS People everywhere can hear the tunes, we're glad of the great response we've gotten from friends, happy to have any sincere friends whatever the number.
Q3, Why should somebody add you as their friend and what does it take for you to deny somebody as a friend? Well I'm not in the business of picking and choosing who listens to our music, anyone is welcome. Add us if you like the songs.

Q5, What is you favourite song you've written & why? What song would you have loved to have written? Q7, What is the most embarrassing song in your collection and why did you buy / download it? please be very honest! I wrote and recorded it! There are millions of 'em on my old high school demos.

As Tall as Trees
Genre - Acoustic / Folk
Strapline - Mentos are particularly good
Influences - Bright Eyes, Dallas Green, Ben Taylor, William Fitzsimmons, Matt Paxton, Joshua James, Carrie Tree, Luke Pickett
Sounds like - music
Q1, Who are you & where are you from? We are As tall as trees we consist of matt aldus (vocals guitars) and ben havercroft (drums percussion). We live in a small country village called Huntspill about an hour out from Bristol.
Q2, What's your myspace page called? What do you think myspace has to offer bands & artists? How many friends have you got (it is a competition you know!) and how many are actual friends? Our myspace is myspace. com/astallastrees. myspace is great for music and finding bands and good for bands to get out there, its not always my favourite place to go but then it gets our music heard worldwide! We have 11400 friends, for bands I think its important to have a lot of friends as many of them add you because they like the music and want to become a fan!
Q3, Why should somebody add you as their friend and what does it take for you to deny somebody as a friend? No one should accept us! There isn't really a reason to accept or deny its to do with personal taste if they want to accept and listen I'd be flattered but if they want to deny it only takes one click! My personal page is to talk to friends, I don't accept people you don't make the effort to get to know you via messaging first!
Q4, If you had to pick a musical genre in which to pigeon hole yourself which one would you go for? I'd go for "the peoples music" its down to them to decide what you are! When writing you never think about the genre it just becomes something that naturally happens, genres are just to familiarize people with music so they know what to like and what not to like!
Q5, What is you favourite song you've written & why? What song would you have loved to have written? My favourite is a song called alleyways, we had a lot of new ideas and directions so it's a song that is a stepping stop for us! It will be up on the myspace soon! I would love to have written tiny vessels by death cab for cutie, its a perfect song!
Q6, What song gets you dancing every time & why? Dizzie rascal and calvin harris! genius! But other than that anything prince! I love prince! and a lot of 80's pop! brilliant!
Q7, What is the most embarrassing song in your collection and why did you buy / download it? please be very honest! The theme tune to dawsons creek, its an amazing song! Why wouldn't you want it!!! I'm not really embarrassed though! It's great!
Q8, What was the last song you listened to and why? William Fitzsimmons, "I don't feel it anymore". It's a brilliant song and reflects failed relationships perfectly, that guy is a gem!
Q9, Can you list your five favourite songs of all time and if so what are they? mmmmm a tricky one! ok... 1. lax to o'hare - the academy is 2. tiny vessels - death cab 3. dont panic - coldplay 4. prince - anything! 5. pretty lush - glassjaw
Q10, If you had to form a tribute band, which band would you chose and why? Who would you be & does that say anything about you? mmm it would definitely be a jack's mannequin band! I would be andrew I love andrews attitude to music and how everyday he works towards making more and feels lucky for doing so, it really shows in his songs! I'm not sure it say anything about me, I guess it might say I just appreciate what I have and want to continue to do it.
Q11, Do you do gigs? If so how would you describe your live experience? We are currently booking tours and shows, we have played a few shows, I think people like it but you would have to ask them what they thought! haha
Q12, What would make the perfect gig for you? Free food, beer, a fun time afterwards and reaaallly good sound!
Q13, Where's you favourite place in the world and what does it say about you? Canada, it's so peaceful and clean, I respect that place a lot! I'm quite a quiet guy, I speak when spoken to and I love fresh atmospheres which reflects my person I think.
Q14, What's the best and worst thing you've ever seen written about you? mmmm best thing would be "it's people like you that makes music worthwhile" that caught me off guard! Was very honoured and flattered! worst would be "id rather shove eels up my arse than listen to you" that one was just funny! I don't think he listened to us so he probably went for the eels!
Q15, In ten words write your own press release (swearing is definitely allowed!) mmmmmm "come and listen or don't come and listen, your choice"
John Lee
Genre - Alternative / Folk Rock / Experimental
Strapline - Call me morbit, call me pale
Influences - I started writing because of Morrissey. I picked up a guitar cos I just had to learn Jack Johnson's 'Cocoon'.
Sounds like - John Lee - Lost at sea
Q1, Who are you & where are you from? John Lee and was born in Huntington Beach, California, but I've been here and there. I currently live in Central California.
Q2, What's your myspace page called? What do you think myspace has to offer bands & artists? How many friends have you got (it is a competition you know!) and how many are actual friends? Myspace.com/johnleemusica. Well, it's a great way to have people listen to your music especially if you're an indie artist that nobody's heard of. I've came across great bands while adding friends and it's sad that there are those that make lovely music that won't get a label while quite a few rubbish bands do. I started my page a few months ago. I have over 7k friends so far. I have several few actual friends but I talk to everybody that writes me. I don't ignore those who add me. Everybody who adds me is equally my friend.
Q3, Why should somebody add you as their friend and what does it take for you to deny somebody as a friend? If they appreciate my music then that's really all it is but at the same time I think it's important that people should get to know the artist. If I'm considered respectable as a person, then that should also be another thing before adding me. I never deny any friend requests unless it's spam or something.
Q4, If you had to pick a musical genre in which to pigeon hole yourself which one would you go for? Basically what I've been doing.
Q5, What is your favourite song you've written & why? What song would you have loved to have written? I actually don't have a favourite. Every song has an equal but different appreciation to it because they're about different experiences I went through. "Romeo & Juliet" was the first song I played in front of anyone as well as being the first recorded song. I played it for a lovely friend of mine Irene. She was blown away cos she didn't expect that I had the voice that I have. She was the first person to really listen to me. My music progressed there on. R&J is special for that reason. I wouldn't love to have written any song but the ones I have. I like writing original work and it's something to be proud of.
Q6, What song gets you dancing every time & why? Well I'm not so much into club kinda music where you'd find me breaking out moves on the dance floor but as far as nodding my head back and forth or playing air-guitar it'd be something by The Strokes.
Q7, What is the most embarrassing song in your collection and why did you buy / download it? please be very honest! It would definitely have to be some album by Nickelback. I didn't think their music was gonna be that awful. At the time I was looking for an alternative sound and that song "This Is How You Remind Me" sounded catchy, but the album was a dissapointment.
Q8, What was the last song you listened to and why? It was "Please, please, please, let me get what I want" by The Smiths while driving to a grocery store. Morrissey is class! He's the reason why I started writing.
Q9, Can you list your five favourite songs of all time and if so what are they? I can't, no. I have a selection of top songs from different artists though..like "Automatic Stop" and "Razorblade" by The Strokes, "Unloveable" by The Smiths,, "Cocoon" by Jack Johnson, "Satellite" and "When You're Sleeping" by Natalie Imbruglia. There's just heaps of songs!
Q10, If you had to form a tribute band, which band would you chose and why? Who would you be & does that say anything about you? It would be awful to be a tribute band in my opinion, but if I absolutely have to choose, it would be The Libertines because out of all singers, I have been compared to Pete Doherty the most. I love their music so I could kinda settle for that.
Q11, Do you do gigs? If so how would you describe your live experience? By the end of this year will be the start. I've had numerous requests to play shows but I'm still deciding where to play. In this town you have to be picky on where you play because the genre and crowd has to match up. I'm having to teach a friend to learn my songs at the moment so there's more music on stage than having to go solo. It's taking awhile cos when I teach him the lead, his mind wonders off into playing his own riffs! I just might have to go solo if he doesn't get it.
Q12, What would make the perfect gig for you? About 80 people at a good size lounge. The kind of crowd you get is the most important though. I like people to listen to the message from my lyrics and not just the music so a crowd of listeners would be ideal.
Q13, Where's you favourite place in the world and what does it say about you? My hometown in HB because I'm in love with the beach. It feels comfortable being there even if I'm no longer a local. I love London too because I feel more active when I'm there and also because it's easier to fit in around there.
Q14, What's the best and worst thing you've ever seen written about you? Well, some ladi wrote me a message saying that she wouldn't accept my friend request simply because she thought that what I wrote in my about me section was bollocks. She was basically saying that I was fake and that's the most offensive thing to say about me because I'm far from that. At the time I also had banners on my page supporting causes such as Breast Cancer Awareness that I feel strongly about and she had a remark about that as well saying that I probably didn't care about those issues in our world. All in all she had many negative things to say about me without even getting the chance to know me. I checked out her page and on it were all these causes she supported, peace, and so forth. I mean how does anyone strive for peace and at the same time come to be so judgemental of others? In order for peace we should be willing to accept each other are we not? I'm not gonna think much of it, because some people are just difficult to begin with.
Q15, In ten words write your own press release (swearing is definitely allowed!)? Indie artist John Lee captures the hearts of the broken hearted. that's 11 words, sorry!
The Unfortunate Incident
Genre - alternative / rock / punk
Strapline - The unfortunate incident, ironic, you decide
Influences - Have a look at our other sites. We have a group on Facebook. http://memusic.metro.co.uk/users/theunfortunateincident.
Sounds like - Listen to Me & Other Independent Artists & Unsigned Bands & Musicians at EM Talent Radio - Free Online Radio Promotion for Independent Music in the Midlands & UK.
Q1, Who are you & where are you from? The Unfortunate Incident. Sheffield.
Q2, What's your myspace page called? What do you think myspace has to offer bands & artists? How many friends have you got (it is a competition you know!) and how many are actual friends? myspace.com/theunfortunateincident. Myspace lets you put up pictures of yourself and recordings of your voice and force them on the unsuspecting public thus feeding your ego by collecting so many friends that you do nothing else but add more friends thus loosing the friends you actually have because you're spending all your time looking for new friends on Myspace. We have a plethora of fans (I don't know how much a plethora is but it's definately more than 12). My girlfriend, my brother and my big gay lover are the only real friends we have (on myspace and on the earth).
Q3, Why should somebody add you as their friend and what does it take for you to deny somebody as a friend? Add us as your friend and I will love you forever and what is worth more than the love of one man (3.62 is the answer.) Anyone can be our friend apart from Meryl Streep (you know what you did Streep).
Q4, If you had to pick a musical genre in which to pigeon hole yourself which one would you go for? C*nts
Q5, What is you favourite song you've written & why? What song would you have loved to have written? The Ballad of Jonny Rock (its not on myspace yet) I wish I would have written the English national anthem as it would have gone: We are a land of nobs, we are a land of nobs, nobs we have lots. We all like jam and scones, and casual sex with folk. We have a queen and everything. although she's pointless.
Q6, What song gets you dancing every time & why? I never dance, it's the devils work. I hate dancing so much that I couldn't even bring myself to dance on the grave of George Bush Jr.
Q7, What is the most embarrassing song in your collection and why did you buy / download it? please be very honest! All our songs, we are probably sh*t.
Q8, What was the last song you listened to and why? I just watched an interview with Barry Mcguigan and his Irish brouge almost made it like a song so that counts, And I listen to the Mcguigan because we all should follow the word of Mcguigan he is our lord and saviour.
Q9, Can you list your five favourite songs of all time and if so what are they? I would listen to Thumbtack by bob mould five times.
Q10, If you had to form a tribute band, which band would you chose and why? Who would you be & does that say anything about you? A Bob mould tribute band as he played Thumbtack the finest song of all time. I would be Bob and this is says about me that I aim low as hardly anyone has heard of him, and he's bold and so will I be as was my father and my fathers father.
Q11, Do you do gigs? If so how would you describe your live experience? I go to gigs, I stand on the edge of the mosh pit so I can jump around if I want but if I get tired I can just stand there. And my glasses would get broken in the mosh pit.
Q12, What would make the perfect gig for you? Us playing and more than 20 people in the audience (aim low and all your dreams will come true even if your dreams are sh>t).
Q13, Where's you favourite place in the world and what does it say about you? The toilet, this is where I write my songs. I want our first album to be called bowel sounds.
Q14, What's the best and worst thing you've ever seen written about you? The best thing is anything Morrissey wants to write about. The worst thing ever written about is being northern and goin' aht drinking and being reght dead common like.
Q15, In ten words write your own press release (swearing is definitely allowed!)! The Unfortunate Incident nerds playing loud music to empty rooms.
Postcode
Genre - Alternative / indie / rock
Strapline - Zebraland available now!
Influences - Smashing Pumpkins, P.J.Harvey, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Six By Seven, My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, Pixies, Mogwai, etc. Zebras. Mikie put the bands in. As for Marie, well she just sings and if it sounds ok she's happy with it, she's probably mostly influenced by the fact that she can sing at all. He's right about the zebras though.
Sounds like - Zebracore.
Q1, Who are you & where are you from? We are Postcode, from the Isle of Man (a small island between England and Ireland for those that don't know).
Q2, What's your myspace page called? What do you think myspace has to offer bands & artists? How many friends have you got (it is a competition you know!) and how many are actual friends? Myspace.com/postcode It's a great way of getting your music heard by people, both potential fans and venues, promoters etc. We've got about nine and a half thousand friends at this moment in time. I'm not sure how many are real friends, we've certainly met new people that we stay in contact with though, people that we'd never have had the chance to talk to otherwise.
Q3, Why should somebody add you as their friend and what does it take for you to deny somebody as a friend? Because they like our music! Otherwise what's the point? We'll accept anyone unless they're obviously some kind of racist/sexist/facist/homophobic cockbadger.
Q4, If you had to pick a musical genre in which to pigeon hole yourself which one would you go for? Zebracore, without question.
Q5, What is you favourite song you've written & why? What song would you have loved to have written? That's really difficult to answer, I love them all. Right now I'm pretty excited about a song called 'Donny' that will be on our next record, but the newest ones are always the ones that you're interested in. From 'Zebracore' I really like 'Hope Makes The Stars Shine Brighter' and from 'Zebraland'.... maybe 'Dinosaurs' - it encapsulates everything I like I suppose.
Q6, What song gets you dancing every time & why? Of ours, or in general? I throw myself around to everything we do!
Q7, What is the most embarrassing song in your collection and why did you buy / download it? please be very honest! I'm not embarrassed about anything I own. If like it, it's great and anyone that disagrees is clearly a tasteless moron! I've been listening to a lot of early Queen recently, which is apparently looked down on by many 'indie/alternative' types, but fuck 'em.
Q8, What was the last song you listened to and why? I'm currently listening to 'Threshold Apprehension' by Black Francis on his myspace because I haven't got around to hearing his recent stuff yet.
Q9, Can you list your five favourite songs of all time and if so what are they? No, frankly.
Q10, If you had to form a tribute band, which band would you chose and why? Who would you be & does that say anything about you? If I had to? I can't choose Postcode? Off the top of my head I'll say Pixies and Joey Santiago, because they rock, obviously. I guess it says I like the Pixies and playing guitar? Perhaps not a great revelation.
Q11, Do you do gigs? If so how would you describe your live experience? We do. Intense, loud, energetic, rocking, total zebracore! Expect feedback, scissor kicks, great songs and potential semi-nudity from the Daugherty brothers.
Q12, What would make the perfect gig for you? A huge, enthusiastic crowd and a great performance from us, resulting in lots of cd sales! I just want people to enjoy what we're doing.
Q13, Where's you favourite place in the world and what does it say about you? Any stage I can perform on. It says that I have no life outside of music, but I already knew that.
Q14, What's the best and worst thing you've ever seen written about you? I was pretty happy with the review of 'The Post-Zebracore E.P.' from the Losing Today website, particulatly being compared to Dinosaur Jr. having a fistfight with The Breeders. The worst thing? It wasn't written, but apparently a guy in a local music shop described our first album as 'weird extreme metal' when asked what it was like. That's just inaccurate and stupid.
Q15, In ten words write your own press release (swearing is definitely allowed!)! Postcode are Zebracore - you need to buy their fucking albums!
GROVEMERE
Genre - Electronica/Alternative/Pop
Influences - N/A
Sounds like - Grovemere
Q1, who are you & where are you from? Stine of Grovemere - composer, vocalist and producer from cloudy Copenhagen.
Q2, what's your myspace page called? What do you think myspace has to offer bands & artists? How many friends have you got (it is a competition you know!) and how many are actual friends? Myspace.com/grovemere & official website: www.grovemeremusic.com MySpace is a great medium, a great opportunity for established artists to actually get in touch with and to feel - their fans. Furthermore it offers unmatched opportunities for upcoming artists to promote their work and to introduce people from around the globe to their music. People who perhaps would not have gotten in touch with the music otherwise. At present Grovemere have about 5000 friends, of whom 12 are actual friends...roughly.
Q3, why should somebody add you as their friend and what does it take for you to deny somebody as a friend? Accept me if you like the music, or if you find me sympathetic. I will accept anyone, unless they appear to be spammers or if they're obviously racist, fascist, sexist or any kind of 'ist' who is offensive towards others.
Q4, if you had to pick a musical genre in which to pigeon hole yourself which one would you go for? Dream pop.
Q5, what is you favourite song you've written & why? What song would you have loved to have written? I'm not sure, if I have written that ultimate favourite song yet, haha ;) But of my existing tracks, Silence is a candidate. I would have loved to have written Gollum's Song by Emiliana Torrini. That song is magic.
Q6, what song gets you dancing every time & why? Sadly, I can't even remember the last time I danced!
Q7, what is the most embarrassing song in your collection and why did you buy / download it please be very honest! Haha hmmm. It's not that it's embarrassing - it just doesn't appeal to me anymore, but it would be something of Alanis Morissette, I guess.
Q8, what was the last song you listened to and why? A composition by the great Danish composer, Frederik Magle, called The Infinite Second (Concert for organ and orchestra). These pieces are so intriguing, beautiful and kind of scary and I felt like being freaked out a bit ;)
Q9, Can you list your five favourite songs of all time and if so what are they? I can't - too many.
Q10, If you had to form a tribute band, which band would you chose and why? Who would you be & does that say anything about you? I would never form a tribute band even though that there are so many incredible artists whom I admire and respect deeply. I do get inspired from others, but it would be very unfulfilling for me to have to copy others work and not be able to realize my own ideas (this is not to be interpreted as a criticism of tribute bands though). Perhaps that says something about me. I truly believe in originality and originals.
Q11, do you do gigs? If so how would you describe your live experience? I have not reached a point yet, where I am ready to play live gigs. But in the future, when I have enough material and I have gathered a live band, I definitely will :)
Q12, what would make the perfect gig for you? Some place with lot's of happy people, who really enjoy my music.
Q13, Where's you favourite place in the world and what does it say about you? Paris and Berlin. Paris, mainly because of the architecture, the light and the mellow people. There's something unique and magical about the city and very romantic as well. Berlin, mainly because of the atmosphere and the very friendly and mellow people. Because of the beer, the cheese - and they have a very wide range of vegan/vegetarian products, which is of course great, being a vegetarian myself :)
Q14, what's the best and worst thing you've ever seen written about you? Best; Everything positive written about Grovemere by the nice myspace people. Worst; Fortunately, I haven't seen anything bad written about me yet.
Q15, in ten words write your own press release (swearing is definitely allowed!)! Grovemere Copenhagen based, melancholic dream pop, listen with your heart.
Copycat Vigilante
Genre – Post punk / Rock / Alternative
Strapline – No more heroes
Influences – Our record collections go from A – Z and take in everything inbetween
Sounds like – 3 guys 1 laptop
Q2, What’s your myspace page called? What do you think myspace has to offer bands & artists? How many friends have you got (it is a competition you know!) and how many are actual friends? Erm, Copycat Vigilante? Myspace i guess as it says on the tin is a place to meet new people, and another way to get our various noisy outputs heard. Our friends are mainly local to where we live and its surrounding area. We have a few labels in the hope they might have a listen, a few bands, some promoters etc. We dont really have many big breasted girls from America as friends just to boost our numbers (ok we have a couple haha). Myspace IS a good thing although maybe it is becoming harder to get heard as there are so many bands out there. Thats by no means a bad thing though.
Q3, Why should somebody add you as their ‘friend’ and what does it take for you to ‘deny’ somebody as a friend? It would be nice for people to add us if they like our stuff or are into bands in a similar genre. I find it a bit off putting when people send us requests saying things like "Yo, word up! check out our songs" im usually a little more polite haha
Q4, If you had to pick a musical genre in which to pigeon hole yourself which one would you go for?
I guess "Post Hardcore" is the one that is mentioned most.Q5, What is you favourite song you’ve written & why? What song would you have loved to have written? "Seconds Out" is the song that has proved most popular so far for us although we have a couple up our collective sleeve that may change that. Im a fan of the simple pop song and The Cure have written them by the bucket load, probably "Close To Me", or maybe "Henry Lee" by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
Q6, What song gets you dancing every time & why? "Basket Case" by Green Day, i reckon ive heard this song close to a million times but after a few beers it can still transport me back to being a 15 year old snotty punk kid.
Q7, What is the most embarrassing song in your collection and why did you buy / download it … please be very honest!
Im going to play it safe and say Michael Jackson, i was a huge fan when i was a kid but there is i think still a bit of a stigma attached to his music (for obvious/dubious reasons)... i remember feeling embarrsssed buying his greatest hits, something ive never experienced before and i bought some shocking stuff as a youth "Power Rangers are go" springs to mind, although i no longer own that master piece.Q8, What was the last song you listened to and why?
The last song i (unwittingly) heard was "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley.. It was on the news, He's won an MTV award apparently :/Q9, Can you list your five favourite songs of all time and if so what are they?
Tough 1 because i think it depends on mood, whats going on at that point in your life etc, but i'll give it a go:
1.The Cure - Just Like Heaven
2.Green Day - Basket Case
3. At the Drive-In - One Armed Scissor
4.Nick Cave and the badseeds - Henry Lee
5.Fugazi - Ex Spectator
Q10, If you had to form a tribute band, which band would you chose and why? Who would you be & does that say anything about you?
Maybe something like the Ramones, simple pop songs and it'd be ace to get a room full of people shouting "Hey ho! Lets go" back at you. What does that say about me? Hmmm that im secretly into long hair and leather?Q11, Do you do gigs? If so how would you describe your live experience? Loud/Shout/Quiet bit/Loud/Shout/applause(hopefully)
Q12, What would make the perfect gig for you? Blood, Sweat and beers.
Q13, Where’s you favourite place in the world and what does it say about you?
Im happy in the rehearsal room/studio messing around with sounds and coming up with ideas. What does that say about me? That im a massive boring geek probably hahaQ14, What’s the best and worst thing you’ve ever seen written about you?
We've had fairly good reviews so far thankfully, a few people have mentioned we need a bit of a kick up the arse at times though to get thing moving along.Q15, In ten words write your own press release (swearing is definitely allowed!)…
Copycat Vigilante are three guys plus a laptop, fuck yeah! (i wont be going for a job in PR anytime soon haha)
